Seeking help and support can oftentimes feel overwhelming. If you are here, you've accomplished one of the hardest steps and one that you can be proud of. As a client-centered therapist, it is my goal to make the process of therapy feel as comfortable, safe, and empowering as possible. I believe that you, the client, are the expert on your own life, and I am here to help guide and support you through challenges that may arise.
My biggest passion in life is working with children and my number one goal is to provide a safe and judgment-free space for you, your child, and your family.
In working with children, teens, and young adults, I help support:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- ADHD
- Autism
- Family Divorce
- Life Transitions
- Trauma
- Self-esteem
- Peer and Family Relationships
I believe that unique life experiences and challenges call for different therapeutic interventions depending on your needs. While tailoring my approach to fit your individuals support needs, I utilize several modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and play therapy.
Prior to joining Capon Counseling, I gained a variety of experience working with kids and teens. I began my journey working as a preschool teacher for 8 years. Although I absolutely loved my job, over the years, I realized I wanted to pursue a career where I could build more one-on-one connections. I entered the counseling field, and it has been the best decision.
In addition, I also worked at a non-profit domestic violence organization supporting children and women who were survivors of domestic violence. I later worked at Children's First Pediatrics where I provided individual therapy for children, teens, and young adults. I am absolutely thrilled to now be apart of Capon Counseling and continue my passion of working with children and families.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Towson University and my Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland. I am a Maryland Licensed Master Social Worker.
