Welcome! I’m Kelsey! 

I am so happy to be a part of Capon Counseling as a Lyme literate therapist. Having both clinical and personal experience with Lyme disease/tick borne diseases, I appreciate and relate to the unique challenges that Lyme sufferers face. I have a strong understanding of the neuropsychiatric manifestations of Lyme, as well as how the neglect and gaslighting from the medical community can cause very isolating and traumatic experiences. I am here to help you through this. I specialize in working with teens and adults.

I believe that building a strong rapport between therapist and client is the most important step in the therapeutic process. You are the expert on your own life and my goal is to meet you where you are and provide you with an individualized treatment approach based on your needs. I utilize several different treatment modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. I will provide a safe, authentic, and compassionate environment.

Prior to joining Capon Counseling, I worked at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan and at Denver Health in inpatient psychiatric hospitals. I supported children, adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, self-harming behaviors, drug and alcohol abuse, emotional and physical abuse, trauma, family conflict, and symptoms of severe and persistent mental illness. For the last two years, my work has been focused solely on virtual, individual therapy.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in social work from McDaniel College and my master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver. I am licensed in Maryland, Virginia, and Colorado as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
